Manage domains
A domain is a logical grouping of assets. It always has a domain type and belongs to only one community. You can create, edit, move, and delete domains.
Create a domain
You can create your own domain in a community.
Prerequisites
You have a resource role with the Domain > Add resource permission.
Steps

On the main toolbar, click

The Create dialog box appears. - Click the Organization tab.
- Select a domain type from the list.TipThe Create Domain dialog box appears.
- To create a Process Register domain, select the Process Register domain type.
- If you selected the wrong domain type, you can still change it in the Domain type field in the next step.
- Enter the required information.
Field Description Domain type Domain type of the domain.
This field shows the domain type you selected in the previous step. You can change it if needed.
If a default domain view (in preview) is set for the domain type, the default view is applied to the domain.
Community Community under which the domain will be located. Domain name
Name of the new domain.
Tip- You can create multiple domains together. To do so, enter the first name, click the drop-down or press Enter, and then enter the next name.
- Domain names must be unique within their parent community. A domain name can contain only up to 255 characters.
- Click Create.
Edit a domain name and domain type
You can change the name and domain type of any domain.
Prerequisites
You have a resource role with the Domain > Update resource permission.
Steps
- Open the domain.
- Click
→ Edit.
- Enter the required information.
Field Description Name
New name for the domain. Domain names must be unique within their community.
Type New domain type for the domain. - Click Save.
Move a domain
You can change the community of a custom domain by moving the domain to a different community. If a domain is moved to a community in another scope, the assignment of the domain's assets may change. If moving a domain causes a conflict of scopes, the moved domain is removed from its original scope.
Prerequisites
- You have a resource role with the Domain > Update resource permission on the domain you want to move.
- You have a resource role with the Community > Update resource permission on the community to which you want to move the domain.
Steps
- Open the domain.
- Click
→ Move.
- In the Community field, select the new community.Note Domain names must be unique within their community. If you try to move the domain to a community that already contains a domain with the same name, an error message appears after you click Save.
- Click Save.
Delete a domain
Note System-managed domains can't be deleted.
You can delete a custom domain if you no longer need it. Deleting a domain also deletes its views and assets.
Prerequisites
You have a resource role with the Domain > Remove resource permission.
Steps
- Open the domain.
- Click
→ Delete.
