Set or remove a default domain type view (in preview)

Important  This feature is available only in the latest UI.

A default view is the view that is shown by default on the Assets tab of a domain page. You can set a default view for a specific domain type. This is called the default domain type view.

A default domain type view becomes the default view only in the domains that are created after the view is set. For domains that were created before the default domain type view was set, the view only becomes available as an option that users can manually select.

Any public view from any domain of a specific domain type can be set as the default domain type view for that domain type.

Example

Consider the following Glossary domains: Marketing and Product.

If you set View 1 as the default domain type view for the Glossary domain type:

  • In the Marketing domain, View 1 becomes available as an additional view option.
  • In the Product domain, View 1 becomes available as an additional view option.

Suppose that a new Glossary domain named Finance is now created. Then:

  • In the Finance domain, View 1 becomes the default view.

If you now set View 2 as the default domain type view for the Glossary domain type:

  • In the Marketing domain, View 2 becomes available as an additional view option. View 1 is no longer available.
  • In the Product domain, View 2 becomes available as an additional view option. View 1 is no longer available.
  • In the Finance domain, however, View 2 becomes the default view. View 1 is no longer available.

Set a default domain type view

Prerequisites

  • The Domain type default view (in preview) setting in Collibra Console is enabled.
  • You have a global role that has the following global permissions:
    • Views, Dashboards, Search filters > Manage shared Views, Dashboard and Search Filter
    • Product Rights > System administration
  • You have created and configured the view you want to set as the default, and the view is visible to everyone.

Steps

  1. On the main toolbar, click Products iconCogwheel icon Settings.
    The Settings page opens.
  2. Click the Operating Model tab.
The Operating Model settings are shown.
  3. On the Domain types tab, in the row containing the domain type for which you want to set the default view, double-click the Domain Type Default View cell.
The Edit <domain type name> Domain Type Default View dialog box appears. The drop-down list contains all the public views from all the domains of the selected domain type.
  4. Select the view you want to set as the default domain type view.
  5. Click Save.
Note
  • Once a view is set as the default domain type view, you can't delete the view or change its visibility settings (Visible To value) again when sharing the view. To delete the view or change its visibility settings, you need to first remove it as the default view.
  • If the Domain type default view setting is disabled after you set a default domain type view, the view you set still remains as the default. You can't remove the default domain type view while the setting is disabled.
