Data Notebook permissions

To access Data Notebook or create a notebook, you need the Product Rights > Data Notebook global permission. The following table contains the other permissions you need to perform certain tasks.

Task Permissions
Non-administrative tasks
View, edit, duplicate, restore, comment on, or delete a private notebook.

You are the creator of the notebook or its editor if it was previously published.

Publish a notebook.

  • You are the creator of the notebook or its editor if it was previously published.
  • You are assigned a responsibility with a resource role that has the following resource permission on the target domain: Asset > Add
View, duplicate, or comment on a published notebook.

You have a resource role that has the following resource permission: Asset > Data > View notebook content

View the notebook content on the asset page.
Edit a published notebook and then publish the changes.

You have a resource role that has the following resource permissions:

  • Asset > Data > View notebook content
  • Asset > Update
  • Asset > Attribute > Update
Restore a version in a published notebook.

Delete a published notebook or unpublish a notebook.

You have a resource role that has the following resource permissions:

  • Asset > Data > View notebook content
  • Asset > Remove
  • Administrative tasks
    View or manage any type of notebook. You have a global role that has the following global permission: Data Notebook > Manage all notebooks

    Tip A user who has this permission can view the content in all the notebooks regardless of who created the notebooks, even including private notebooks via direct links. Therefore, consider giving this permission to only users who have the Sysadmin global role.

    Register a data source for Data Notebook or remove the registered data source. You have a global role that has the following global permission: Data Notebook > Manage data sources
    Customize workspace settings for Data Notebook. You have a global role that has the following global permission: Data Notebook > Manage settings
