Search widget

Important

In Collibra 2024.05, we launched a new user interface (UI) for Collibra Data Intelligence Platform! You can learn more about this latest UI in the UI overview.

Use the following options to see the documentation in the latest UI or in the previous, classic UI:

The Search widget on a dashboard works like the global search box. When you enter text in the widget's search box and press Enter, you are taken to the same search page as the global search box, with identical results.

Configure the Search widget

Configuring the Search widget involves the following:

  • Filters: Adding filters to define the scope. These filters refer to the saved search filters that are shared with everyone.
    Tip
    • If you have the Data Marketplace global permission, you can also use the Data Marketplace and other search tabs (related to Data Marketplace) as filters. Search suggestions for these other search tabs don't include recently visited assets.
    • When a user with the Data Marketplace global permission searches in the widget using a search tab, they are taken to the same tab on the search page. Searching using any other tab takes them to the All Results tab on the search page.
  • Results: Selecting which characteristics (such as name and status) are shown in the search results. The asset type is shown by default.
  • Widget: Adding a title and description to provide context for users.

Prerequisites

The Improved Search Widget on Dashboard setting in Collibra Console is enabled.

Steps

  1. Open the dashboard containing the Search widget.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. On the widget, click Configure.
  4. On the Filters tab, click Add filter.
  5. In the drop-down list, select a filter.
    Tip
    • The list includes only search filters that are shared with everyone. If you have the Data Marketplace global permission, the list also includes Data Marketplace and other search tabs.
    • You can add multiple filters using Add filter.
    • The filters you add are shown as tabs in the widget.
    • If you add more than one filter, users can switch between them when searching in the widget.
  6. On the Results tab, switch on the characteristics you want to be shown in the search results.
  7. On the Widget tab, enter a title to identify the widget and a description about the widget.
  8. Click Save.
  9. In the upper-right corner of the page, click Save.
Warning If the Improved Search Widget on Dashboard setting is disabled, any filters previously added to a Search widget are still applied to the widget. If you want to remove the filters, enable the Improved Search Widget on Dashboard setting, remove the filters from the widget, and then disable the setting.
