Search widget

The Search widget on a dashboard works like the global Search box. If you enter something in the Search box of the Search widget and press Enter, it takes you to the same search page as the global Search box, with identical search results. However, unlike the global Search box, the Search widget doesn't show any recently viewed resources or top results as you type.

Widget filter (beta)

You can configure the underlying filter or filters to define the scope of the Search widget. For example, you may only want a certain dashboard Search widget to show results that fit a specific criteria.

Important  This feature is available only in the latest UI.

Prerequisite

  • The Improved Search Widget on Dashboard setting is enabled.

Steps

  1. Open the widget for configuration.
  2. From the Filters tab, click Add filter.
  3. Select and add one or more available filters. If more than one filter is added, the user can switch between the filters when running a search in the Search widget.
Note Filters that are available on the search page are displayed in the dropdown list.
  4. From the Results tab, use the toggles to show or hide which characteristics are shown in the search results.
  5. From the Widget tab:
    1. Enter the name of the Search widget.
    2. Add a description of the Search widget.
    3. Select how often the Search widget refreshes.
  6. Click Save.
