Tags

In addition to strictly governed metadata, you can use tags to categorize assets. A tag is a piece of metadata that is used to label an asset, to help categorize the asset. You can use the same tag for all the assets that belong to the same category of a business (for example, finance). Although the tags are stored in the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform database, they are not strictly governed by Collibra.

Note
  • Tags can be added to only assets.
  • Adding, editing, or deleting a tag from an asset does not change the last modified date of the asset.

Benefits

Some of the benefits of tags are as follows:

  • You can search for assets with a specific tag by clicking the tag on an asset page or on the tags overview page.
  • You can select the Tag facet on the Search page to navigate search results.
  • You can use tags in filter clauses.
  • You can import and export tags.

Tag name characteristics

The characteristics of tag names are as follows:

  • Tag names are case sensitive.
For example, you can enter the following tag names: Car, car. However, tag suggestions are not case sensitive. For example, typing car can provide the following suggestions: Car, car.
  • Tag names cannot contain spaces.
  • Tag names can contain underscores (_).
  • The maximum length of the tag name is 250 characters.
