Manage Page Editor Search widgets
The Search widget works like the global search box, but you can configure set filters to control the search results. When you enter text in the widget search box and press Enter, you are taken to the same search page as the global search box, with identical results.
Prerequisites
You have the required permissions to edit the product page or dashboard.
Steps
- Go to the page where you want to add a Search widget.
- Click Edit.
- Place the widget:
- If this is a new widget, under Widgets, drag and drop Search to the desired row on the page.
- If this is an existing widget, select the existing Search widget and drag and drop it to the new position on the page.
- Select the Search widget you want to configure.
- In the right-side Pages panel, update the widget details:
- In Title, enter the name of the widget.
- In Description, enter a description of the widget.
- Select the Show description in a tool tip checkbox to show the description in a tooltip. This helps consolidate space on your page.
- To add a new search filter:

- Click the new filter.
- Select the scope of the filter from the dropdown.Tip
- The list includes only search filters that are shared with everyone. If you have the Data Marketplace global permission, the list also includes Data Marketplace and other search tabs.
- The filters you add are shown as dropdown menus in the widget.
- If you add more than one filter, users can switch between them when searching in the widget.
- Click
- In Results, select the information you want shown for each search results.
- Name: The name of the asset. This must be shown and can't be removed.
- Asset type
- Certified
- Status
- Full name
- Organization
- Toggle on the Remove border and padding field to reduce the padding around the widget.
- Optionally, select
above the component to copy and paste the component.
- Optionally, select
above the component to delete the component. - Click Publish to publish your changes.
Example
You want users to have a quick way to search for data sets, where the search results show the asset type and status.
- You drag and drop a Search widget to the row on a page.
- You name the widget "Data sets".
- You add a new filter, and select Data sets from the Scope dropdown
- In Results, you select Asset type and Status.
- You toggle on the Remove border and padding field to reduce the padding around the search widget on the page.
- Click Publish.
