Enable and configure the data basket

Important

In Collibra 2024.05, we launched a new user interface (UI) for Collibra Data Intelligence Platform! You can learn more about this latest UI in the UI overview.

Use the following options to see the documentation in the latest UI or in the previous, classic UI:

The data basket is a feature that allows you to add assets to a basket and start an access request workflow when you check out the basket.

If the data basket is enabled, users can add assets of the type Data Set, Report, or one of their child asset types to the basket. These eligible out-of-the-box asset types can be extended with additional asset types.

Important
  • If you add more asset types, make sure to update the Request Assets Access workflow logic.
  • To start the access request workflow, a user needs a global role that has the Workflows > Start Workflow global permission.
  • The access request workflow requires all involved Owners and Technical Stewards to have a global role that has the Workflows > Participate in workflow global permission.
  • If your environment was created before 2024.06, download and enable the latest version of the Request Assets Access workflow. When you activate this workflow, make sure to add the Data Usage asset type in the Applies to section.
For more information, go to Out-of-the-box workflow deployments.
  • If you want to validate the date provided by a user, you have to update the Request Assets Access workflow logic.

Before you begin

Requirements and permissions

You have the Sysadmin global role.

Steps

  1. On the main toolbar, click Products icon, and then click Cogwheel icon Settings.
    The Collibra settings page opens.
  2. In the Data Marketplace section, click Shopping Basket and Data Set Management.
  3. In the Search section, click Actions and Preview.
  4. Click the Shopping Basket tab.
  5. Select the Show Basket checkbox.

    Extra fields appear.

    Note
By default, users can add assets of the type Data Set, Report, or one of their child asset types to the basket. Therefore, the Report and Data Set asset types are selected in this page by default and cannot be removed.
  6. To allow an extra asset type, click Add.
  7. Select the asset type you want to allow.
All child asset types of a selected asset type are allowed automatically. If you, for example, enable Table assets, then Database View will also be eligible for the shopping basket.
    Important
    • If you added more asset types, make sure to update the Request Assets Access workflow logic.
    • This workflow accepts by default only Data Sets that contain Column assets as data elements.
  8. Click Save.
For the allowed asset types and for users with the correct permissions:
    • The Add to Data Basket button is available in the asset pages.
    • In Data Marketplace, the Add to Basket button is available in the asset previews.
    • The Add to Data Basket button also appears if you have selected one or more assets with allowed asset types in Data Catalog.

If a user clicks the button, the asset is added to the data basket. For more information, go to Request access to data.
