Data Marketplace permissions

In Data Marketplace, you can be a data consumer or an administrator. The following table describes the global roles and global permissions you can have in Data Marketplace and the privileges they provide.

User Global role or permission Privilege
Data Consumer

You have a global role that has the Data Marketplace global permission, for example, Data Marketplace, Catalog, or Catalog Author.

Note
  • If you have the Data Marketplace global role, you can access only Data Marketplace from Products icon.
  • If you have the Catalog role, you can access both Data Marketplace and Catalog from Products icon.

If Data Marketplace is not enabled in your environment, you have access to Data Marketplace in Search. This means:

  • You see the Data Marketplace option on the search page.
  • You can search for assets, if you have a view permission on the asset.
  • You can start the actions assigned to Data Marketplace by the administrator.

If Data Marketplace is enabled in your environment, you have access to both Data Marketplace in Search and Data Marketplace standalone. This means:

  • You can access Data Marketplace from Products icon.
  • You see the Data Marketplace option on the search page.
  • You can search for assets and access the asset preview, if you have a view permission on the asset.
  • You can start the actions assigned to Data Marketplace by the administrator.

Note Classification still requires the Catalog permission. Users that have only the Products icon permission don't see the classification tags in the Auto-generated abstract or the Column browser in asset preview.

Administrator

You have the Sysadmin global role.

If Data Marketplace is not enabled in your environment, you can configure both Data Marketplace in Search. This means:

  • You have the same privileges as the Data Consumer.
  • You can define Data Marketplace-specific settings such as the scope and the actions.

If Data Marketplace is enabled in your environment, you can configure both Data Marketplace in Search and Data Marketplace standalone. This means:

  • You have the same privileges as the Data Consumer.
  • You can define all Data Marketplace-specific settings such as the scope, the actions, and the landing page.
  • You can access the configuration of the filter tabs in Data Marketplace standalone.
