Connect data classes to data layers

You can use the Data Classes dashboard to connect data classes to the semantic and conceptual data layers.

Prerequisites

You have enabled the Unified Data Classification method.

Steps

  1. On the main toolbar, click , then Stewardship.
  2. Go to Data Classification→Data Classes.
  3. For the data class you want to link, double-click the field in the Data Concept or Data Attribute column.
  4. Select the required value from the list.

    Tip The list shows up to 30 values. To search for a specific value, type the value in the field. The results are ordered as follows: exact matches appear first, followed by matches that start with your search term, and then matches that contain your search term.

  5. Click outside the list.
    Collibra creates a relationship between the data class and the semantic and conceptual data layers. Column assets that have this data class will be connected to these data layers through their mutual relationship to the data class. Direct relationships between physical and semantic information can then be created via Collibra workflows or other methods.
