Usage

Note This topic is specific to the Usage Analytics dashboard that is in the latest UI.

The Usage tab on the Usage Analytics dashboard shows metrics related to how many times the resources, diagrams, and dashboards in your Collibra environment were visited and the most visited resources.

By default, the dashboard shows the metrics for the last 3 months. You can, however, select a different time period in the Usage Period field on the Filters pane, including your own period.

What the arrows indicate

The arrows in the top section of the dashboard indicate the trend in visits compared with the previous period:

  • An up arrow indicates that the number in the current period is higher than that in the previous period by the number shown next to the arrow.
  • A down arrow indicates that the number in the current period is lower than that in the previous period by the number shown next to the arrow.
  • A right arrow indicates that the number in the current period is the same as that in the previous period.

How to explore metrics

You can explore the metrics on the Usage tab through a variety of actions, which include the following:

  • Filtering for a targeted analysis.
  • Excluding categories from charts to focus on key data.
  • Changing display mode for a different perspective.
  • Downloading for offline use or sharing.

How to perform certain actions

The following table describes all the actions you can perform on the Usage tab.

Action Description
Filter the metrics. Use the Filters pane.
Exclude a specific category from a chart. Click the legend representing the category. This shows the legend with a strikethrough. To include the category back, click the legend again.

Example Both asset visits and most visited assets include visits to assets made not only via asset pages but also via asset previews in Data Marketplace. To exclude page or preview visits from the chart, click the corresponding legend on the x-axis. These changes, however, aren't applied when you view the chart as a table.

View a fuller version of the charts shown at the top of the dashboard in the Diagram Visits and Dashboard Visits sections. Click anywhere on the charts in those sections.
View the information associated with a data point. Hover your pointer over the data point.

Open a most visited item directly. Click the name of the item.

Start and end dates on the x-axis

The start and end dates shown on the x-axis in charts may be different from the start and end dates of the usage period you select. This is because of the way the data is organized into intervals when presented on the x-axis. For example, if the usage period you select is Feb 1, 2024 - Feb 15, 2024, then the period is divided into weekly intervals starting from a Monday. Because Feb 1, 2024, is a Thursday, the x-axis shows the preceding Monday, Jan 29, 2024, as the start date. This, however, is only for the purpose of presentation. Hovering your pointer over the first interval on the x-axis always shows the actual start date of the usage period you select.
