Refining search results

Use the following options to see the documentation in the latest UI or in the previous, classic UI:

The search page offers a variety of facets by which you can navigate and refine your search results. These facets are dynamically generated—they change depending on the search results.

The following table describes the filters shown in the facet pane.

1 "Search in" facets

These facets enable you to navigate to resources via organizational path or resource category.

Organization

Navigate to resources by drilling down at the organizational level and limiting the search results to a specific community, subcommunity or domain.

If, for example, you click on a root-level community, the results will be refined to include only the resources (meaning subcommunities, domains and assets) in that community that match your search text.

Category

Navigate to a specific category of resources, such as assets, communities, domains, users or user groups.

2 "Refine" facets

These facets act as filters to refine the search results.

The following table shows the packaged "refine" facets:

Filter criteria Use this to show only those search results...

Asset type

That are of a specified asset type, such as Business Term, Acronym, Column or Table.

This criterion is only applicable if you have selected the category Assets.

In the following example image, the search engine searches for your text only in assets of asset type Standard, Column and Data Set.

Status That have a specified status, such as Candidate, Accepted, Deployed or Rejected.

Last modified

That were modified within the specified time frame; within the last 24 hours, week, month or year.

Created by

That were created by the specified users.

Created on

That were created within the specified time frame; within the last 24 hours, week, month or year.

Tags

That have the specified tag(s).

You can click the tag in any of the search results, to search for all domains and assets with that tag.

Tip 
  • To clear all selections for a specific facet type, click Clear.
  • To clear all facet type selections on the search page, click Clear all.
  • To show all the facets by which to refine the scope of your search for a particular facet type, click Show more or Show all. If there are more than 15 facets, the list opens in a dialog box.

    Note When you select the Data Marketplace option on the search page, the filters in the facet pane change depending on how your administrator has configured the Data Marketplace filters.

    Tag

    To show search results that have the tags you select.

    Tip You can also click the tag in any of the search results to search for all domains and assets with that tag.
    Status To show search results that have the statuses you select (for example, Accepted and Candidate).

    Asset Type

    To show search results that are of the asset types you select (for example, Column and Table).

    Tip This filter is applicable if you selected Assets in the Category filter.

    Organization

    To navigate to resources by drilling down at the organizational level and limiting the search results to specific communities, subcommunities, and domains.

    Tip To select subcommunities or domains, click Advanced Filter.

    Category

    To navigate to a specific category of resources, such as assets, domains, communities, users, and user groups.

    Last Modified

    To show search results that were modified within the time frame you select (for example, in the last 24 hours).

    Created On

    To show search results that were created within the time frame you select (for example, in the last 24 hours).

    Created By

    To show search results that were created by the users you select.

    Domain Type

    To show search results that are of the domain types you select.

    Tip This filter is applicable if you selected Domains in the Category filter.
    Certified

    To show search results that contain certified assets.

    Tip This filter is shown only if certified assets exist.

    Tip To clear all facet type selections on the search page, click Clear.
