Enable Data Marketplace (in preview)

This page explains how to enable Data Marketplace and describes the permissions required to do so.

Before enabling Data Marketplace, review the settings on the General page, including the optional Personal onboarding experience, so that users preferred onboarding experience is in place before they access Data Marketplace. Favorite categories are added to the Favorites section in the sidebar and are prioritized in Data Marketplace search. Data consumers can update their favorite categories from the Data Marketplace category page.

Prerequisites

• You have the System administration global permission and the SysAdmin global role, which is required for category management.

• This feature is available only in the latest UI.

Steps

1. Give the following permissions and role to the users who are Data Marketplace administrators.

   • SysAdmin global role.
   • Product Rights > System administration global permission
     For information on how to add a permission to a role, go to Manage global role permissions.
     

   You can find the new Data Marketplace experience settings in the Data Marketplace tile in the Settings page.

2. Go to Settings > Data Marketplace > General.
3. Optional: To provide a personalized onboarding experience for first-time Data Marketplace users, activate Personal onboarding experience.
   When enabled, first-time users are prompted to select the categories most relevant to them. Their selected categories are added to the Favorites section in the sidebar and prioritized in Data Marketplace search. Data consumers can update their favorite categories at any time from a Data Marketplace category page.

4. When you are ready to make Data Marketplace available to users, activate the Data Marketplace (in preview) option.

   • If standalone Data Marketplace isn't active in your environment, Data Marketplace (in preview) is now available from the Application menu.
   • If standalone Data Marketplace is active in your environment, Data Marketplace (in preview) replaces the existing Data Marketplace. This means the Data Marketplace application menu shows a new Data Marketplace landing page when clicked.
5. Click Save.
