Asset picker

Important This topic is applicable only to the latest UI. For a similar feature in the classic UI, go to Template fields.

The Asset Picker field in an assessment template allows you to define which assets are available for selection in the asset drop-down list (asset picker) in the assessment for users. You can specify the asset types, asset statuses, and domains based on which the assets in the asset picker should be filtered.

Tip
  • The Asset types, Asset statuses, and Domains settings work together with an AND condition.
  • If you want the asset picker in the assessment to show all assets, then leave the Asset types, Asset statuses, and Domains settings blank for the Asset Picker field in the template.

In the template, on the Template Designer tab, when you click an Asset Picker field, the following field-specific settings appear in the sidebar for you to configure.

Setting Description
Asset types

Select this checkbox if you want the asset picker to contain only those assets that match the asset types you select here.

Include child asset types

Select this checkbox if you want the asset picker to contain those assets that match the asset types you selected as well as their respective child asset types, for a more inclusive selection.

Asset statuses

Select the statuses by which you want the assets in the asset picker to be filtered.

If the Asset types setting is blank and the Asset statuses setting has a value, the asset picker will include all asset types that match the asset statuses you select here.

Domains Select the domains by which you want the assets in the asset picker to be filtered.
Allow multiple Select this checkbox if you want to allow users to select multiple assets in the asset picker.
Show asset characteristics Select this checkbox if you want to show the name of the asset that users select in the asset picker as a link to the asset page, along with other characteristics of the asset.
Asset characteristics

Select the asset characteristics that you want to be shown to users when they select an asset in the asset picker. By default, the name of the asset is shown as a link to its asset page. You can additionally choose to show the asset type and asset status. If you selected an asset type in the Asset types drop-down list, the Asset characteristics drop-down list additionally contains all characteristics from global and scoped assignments of the asset type.

This setting appears only when you select the Show asset characteristics checkbox.
