Connect data classes to data categories

By connecting data classes and data categories, you allow Collibra to automatically create a relation between Column assets and data categories, based on the data classification of a column. For more details, go to Automatic Data Category association. You can connect data classes to Data Category assets via the Data Classification dashboard or via the Data Category asset page.

Before you begin

• You have the necessary permissions to classify tables and columns.
• You have registered a data source.

Steps via Data Classification dashboard

1. On the main toolbar, click , then Stewardship.
2. In the submenu, click Data Classification.
3. For the data class you want to link, double-click the field in the Data Category column.
4. Select the required values from the list.
   

   Tip You can link up to 100 Data Category assets to one data class. You can link multiple data classes to one Data Category asset.

5. Click .
   The selected Data Category assets are connected to the data class.

Steps via the Data Category asset page

1. Navigate to a Data Category asset.
2. Open the Data Classes drop-down list.
3. Select the required data classes from the list.
   

   Tip You can link multiple data classes to one Data Category asset. You can't create new data classes from the Data Category asset page.

4. Click .
   The selected data classes are connected to the Data Category asset.
