By connecting data classes and data categories, you allow Collibra to automatically create a relation between Column assets and data categories, based on the data classification of a column. For more details, go to Automatic Data Category association. Data stewards can connect data classes to Data Category assets from the Data Classes page or from the Data Category asset page.
Prerequisites
- You have the required permissions to classify tables and columns.
- You have registered a data source.
Steps from Data Classes dashboard

On the main toolbar, click
, then 
Stewardship.
- Go to Data Classification → Data classes.
- For the data class you want to link, double-click the field in the Data Category column.
- Select the required values from the list.
You can link up to 100 Data Category assets to one data class. You can link multiple data classes to one Data Category asset.

The selected Data Category assets are connected to the data class.
Steps from the Data Category asset page
- Open a Data Category asset.
- Open the Data Classes drop-down list.
- Select the required data classes from the list.
You can link multiple data classes to one Data Category asset. You can't create new data classes from the Data Category asset page.

The selected data classes are connected to the Data Category asset.
You can now start the automatic data classification process or manually classify columns.
