Global roles

A global role is a role that consists of global permissions. You assign a user to a global role to determine which Collibra applications the user can use.

The following table contains the out-of-the-box global roles:

Global role	Description
AI Business User	A user who creates, updates, and views AI use cases.
AI Governance Admin	A user who can configure AI Governance settings. This global role has been introduced to support permissions currently in private preview. Until those permissions are released, we recommend that you continue using existing global roles to manage your environment.
AI Governance Viewer	A user who can view necessary AI Governance-related information without needing a Contributor or Creator license. This global role has been introduced to support permissions currently in private preview. Until those permissions are released, we recommend that you continue using existing global roles to manage your environment.
AI Producer	A user who contributes to building AI solutions and who creates, updates, and views AI agents and AI models.
Assessments	A user who can access Assessments.
Assessments Admin	A user who can view both private and public assessments; change the permissions of any assessment; and create and manage all assessment templates.
Assessments Template Manager	A user who can view, create, edit, and manage all assessment templates.
Catalog	A user who can access Data Catalog. The global permissions in this role only require a consumer license.
Catalog Author	A user who can access Data Catalog. Users with this role can also create, edit and delete advanced data types.
Data Dictionary	A user who can access the Data Dictionary application, which contains all the technical metadata of the physical data sources and other data assets.
Data Marketplace	A user who can access standalone Data Marketplace and Data Marketplace in Search.
Data Notebook Admin	A user who can manage notebooks, data sources, and settings for Data Notebook.
Data Notebook Editor	A user who can create a notebook.
Data Quality Admin	A user who can access the Data Quality & Observability product pages.
Data Quality Integration	Allows users to ingest data quality insights from the Data Quality & Observability Classic application.
Data Quality User	A user who can access the Data Quality & Observability product pages.
DataSteward	A user who can access the Stewardship application for viewing tags, Business Dimensions and the organization structure, including the responsibilities of the communities and domains.
DataSteward Author	A user who can access the Stewardship application to see tags, Business Dimensions and the organization structure, including the responsibilities of the communities and domains. Users with this role can also manage tags on the tags overview page.
Edge integration engineer	A user who can add, edit and delete Edge connections and capabilities.
Edge manager	A user who can create, edit and delete Edge sites.
Edge site	A user who can create a connection between itself, as an Edge site, and Collibra Platform. Note The user is not a person, but an Edge site. The user is automatically created when you install an Edge site.
Edge site administrator	A user who can download the download and installer files to install an Edge site.
Export	A user who can export assets or complex relations and their characteristics.
Glossary	A user who can access the Business Glossary application. Users with this role can access all business semantics glossary functionality and workflows concerning business term proposal and approval, data element usage, structure and glossary alignment.
Helpdesk	A user who can access the Data Helpdesk application, where users can log issues and check issue statuses and assignees.
Import	A user who can import assets or complex relations. Users with this role can also create or edit communities and domains that are related to the imported assets.
Insights	A user who can access Insights Data Access and Usage Analytics.
Policy Manager	A user who can access the Policy Manager application, which is a collection of all governance assets.
Privacy User	A user who can access the Privacy landing page. Note Data Privacy is a paid product.
Protect Admin, Protect Author, Protect Manager, Protect Reader	Go to Protect permissions.
ReferenceData	A user who can access the reference data accelerator. Users with this role are typically allowed to: Access all reference data functionality and workflows concerning code proposal, code approval and code mapping. Define and manage the crosswalk, code value and codes set asset types and their subtypes. Define and manage complex relation types such as code mapping.
Sysadmin	A user who can configure and manage Collibra Platform. Users with this role are typically allowed to: Access and modify the Settings. Define and manage the operating model.
