About Google Knowledge Catalog integration via Edge
This feature is available only in the latest UI.
Google Knowledge Catalog (formerly Dataplex Universal Catalog) is a technical catalog from Google that provides information for data in your Knowledge Catalog projects. The Knowledge Catalog integration provides a unified view of the metadata across all your Knowledge Catalog projects in Collibra Platform.
The Google Knowledge Catalog integration is based on the Knowledge Catalog and enables seamless integration between Collibra and Knowledge Catalog. It supports both inbound and outbound (in preview) metadata flows to keep your catalog in sync with Knowledge Catalog.
- Inbound: Integrates metadata from Google Knowledge Catalog into the Data Catalog. The resulting assets represent Views, Entries, and Aspects.
- Outbound: Pushes enriched metadata from Collibra Platform back to aspects in Google Knowledge Catalog. Updates to assets in Collibra, such as the definition of business context, policies, ownership, and data quality rules, are also reflected in Knowledge Catalog. Any attribute changes in Collibra Platform are reflected for all supported asset types in the Knowledge Catalog integration. This includes Schema, Table, Database View, and Column assets. This feature is in preview.
For information about Knowledge Catalog, go to the Google documentation.
- Currently, only assets that belong to the BigQuery Entry Group in Knowledge Catalog are ingested.
- When you integrate the metadata, you can also profile and classify the data, and request the sample data without registering a BigQuery data source via the BigQuery JDBC driver. This feature is in preview.
For more information about working with BigQuery, go to Ways to integrate Google BigQuery data sources.
