Create a domain type
You can create a new domain type to tailor Collibra Platform to your specific data governance needs, create a more organized environment, and reflect your unique data landscape information architecture.
Consider creating new domain types to:
- Support new asset types: In Collibra, every asset ultimately resides in a domain. If you created a new, custom asset type that doesn't fit into an existing domain type, create a new domain type specifically for it.
- Improve organization and usability: Domain types allow you to logically group domains and the assets within. Instead of having a general Data Governance domain, you can create more specialized types such as a Business Glossary domain, a Data Quality Rules domain, a Technical Asset domain, and so on. This helps others find specific types of information. Each domain type explicitly communicates the intended purpose and the asset types it was designed to hold, reducing confusion, improving user adoption, and maintaining consistency.
