Add the SAP S/4HANA capability

You can add the SAP S/4HANA capability to Edge or Collibra Cloud site to enable metadata synchronization between SAP S/4HANA and Collibra.

Prerequisites

In your Collibra environment:

  • To use the SAP S/4HANA integration, you must have Collibra Platform 2026.07 or newer, and either:
    • Edge 2026.6.35 or newer
    • Edge 2026.3.126 or newer
  • You either created and installed an Edge site or were granted a Collibra Cloud site.
  • You have created a connection to SAP S/4HANA in your Edge or Collibra Cloud site.
  • You have a global role that has the Manage connections and capabilities global permission, for example, Edge integration engineer.

Steps

  1. Open a site.
    1. On the main toolbar, click Products icon → Cogwheel icon Settings.
      The Settings page opens.
    2. In the tab pane, click Edge.
      The Sites tab opens and shows a table with an overview of your sites.
    3. In the table, click the name of the site whose status is Healthy.
      The site page opens.
  2. In the Capabilities section, click Add capability.
    The Add capability page appears.
  3. Select the SAP S/4HANA capability template.
  4. Enter the required information.

    Save input metadata

    Select the option if you want to save the input metadata extracted from the data source in ZIP files. The files can be useful for troubleshooting. Select this option only on request of Collibra Support. If this option is selected, you can download the files from the Synchronization Results dialog box once the synchronization activity is completed.

    The files are available for 8 hours after the synchronization completes. If more than 8 hours have passed, run the synchronization again and download the file from that new run instead.

    Source ID

    The unique identifier of the data source, for example customer_order_data_source. When you enable technical lineage in the integration settings, the SAP S/4HANA integration uses the Source ID to process lineage.

    Create additional capabilities automatically

    Choose the capabilities to create during synchronization if they do not already exist.

    Select one of the following options:

    • Do not create additional capabilities: None of the following capabilities are created during synchronization: Catalog JDBC Ingestion, JDBC Profiling, and Catalog JDBC Classification.
    • Create JDBC ingestion, profiling, and classification capabilities automatically: The following capabilities are created automatically: Catalog JDBC Ingestion, JDBC Profiling, and Catalog JDBC Classification. This is the default option.
    • Create JDBC ingestion, profiling, classification, and sampling capabilities automatically: The following capabilities are created automatically: Catalog JDBC Ingestion, JDBC Profiling, Catalog JDBC Classification, and Catalog JDBC Sampling.

    The JDBC profiling, classification, and sampling entries are created, but do not run automatically for SAP S/4HANA. Don't run these entries directly from the Integration configuration page. To run profiling, classification, or sampling, you must:

    1. Assign an Owner to the Database asset.
    2. Trigger the JDBC profiling, classification, and sampling capabilities jobs manually from the Database asset.

    Additionally, don't trigger ingestion from the Database asset. Synchronize SAP S/4HANA metadata from the integration settings instead.

    • Only complete the fields Save Input Metadata, Logging configuration, Memory (MiB), and JVM arguments on request of or together with Collibra Support.
    • Only use Log level if your data source is a commercial JDBC offering. For more information, go to the Collibra Marketplace.

  5. Click Add.
    The capability is added to the Edge or Collibra Cloud site.
    The fields become read-only.
