A characteristic type is a generic term for an attribute type, relation type, or complex relation type. It is used to provide essential context or information about an asset on the asset page.
The characteristic types added to an asset type layout (see the first image below) appear on the Summary tab of all asset pages belonging to that asset type (see the second image below).
