Create a Time-based Review Rule asset
There are two ways by which you can create Time-based Review Rules assets:
- Via the global Create button.
- By editing an out-of-the-box Time-based Review Rule asset.
Steps
Via the global Create button

On the main toolbar, click
.
The Create dialog box appears. - On the Assets tab, select Time-based Review Rule.
- Enter the required information.
Field Description Asset type The asset type. This is pre-populated. Domain The domain in which the asset will be created. Asset name The name of the asset. - Click Create.
A message stating that the asset is created appears. - Go to the asset page of the newly created asset.
- Enter the required information.
Field Description Description A description of the review rule.
The text you enter in this field will be added as a comment in the Review Request asset that is created when the rule triggers the review of the related asset.
Example "Review Business Process Asset with the business criticality indicated as "High" every 12 months. Please consider reviewing Business Process if the overall risks for the data subjects, and attributes like controllers, processors, purposes or sensitivity of data associated with this processing have changed significantly."
Revision Frequency The frequency with which related assets are to be reviewed.
For this attribute, you need to select a cron value. Cron values are represented by Code Value assets, in the CRON codes domain.
Example The cron code "0 0 0 15 APR ? *" equates to every year on April 15.
Asset Type - Provide UUID Of The Asset Type To Hop To The UUID of the asset type to which this rule will apply.
Filter Assets of Review Asset Type Based on an Attribute Value
Specify whether or not this rule will also depend on the value of a certain attribute, in addition to the cron value in the Revision frequency attribute.
For example, you want to review all Business Process assets every 12 months, but only if the value of the Risk attribute is "High."
The possible values are:
- Yes - filter based on attribute value
- No - apply rule to all assets
If Yes, Provide Attribute Type UUID
This is applicable only if you choose Yes - filter based on attribute value for the previous attribute.
Attribute Value to Filter On
The value that would trigger a review.
- On the Actions menu, click Edit.
The Edit Asset dialog box appears. - In the Status field, select Enabled, and then click Save.
The Time-based Review Rule asset is enabled.
