Manage explicit relations

You can create and delete explicit relations for an asset when you want to link one asset to another or break that link. You can do this from any asset page or from an asset view in table display mode.

Prerequisites

Depending on what you want to do, you have a resource role with the Asset > Attribute > Add resource permission to create relations, or the Asset > Attribute > Remove resource permission to delete relations, either directly for the asset or inherited from a parent community or domain.

Steps

Create an explicit relation

  1. Open the asset page.
  2. Switch on the Show empty optional values option.
  3. In the relation type section, click Add icon.
    The Add to <relation type> relation dialog box appears.
  4. Enter the required information.

    Assets

    Select one or more assets to which you want the current asset to be related.

    Only Search Display Name
    • Select this checkbox to show the display names of assets in the Assets field, instead of full names.
    • Clear this checkbox to show both display names and full names of assets in the Assets field.

     

    Filter Assets by Organization

    • Select this checkbox to filter the assets in the Assets field by communities and domains.
    • Clear this checkbox to show all relevant assets in the Assets field.
  5. Click Save.

Delete an explicit relation

  1. Open the asset page.
  2. In the relation type section, in the Actions column, click Delete outline rounded icon next to the relation.
    Tip Delete outline rounded icon is shown only in the table or tile display mode of the relation view.
    The Delete This Relation dialog box appears.
  3. Click Delete.
  1. Open a view in the table display mode.
  2. In the relation type column of the relevant asset, double-click the cell.
    The cell editor opens.
    Tip If the column isn't shown, add it to the table.
  3. In the cell editor, do one of the following:
    • To create an explicit relation, select one or more assets to which you want the current asset to be related.
    • To delete an explicit relation, click Close icon next to the assets to which you don't want the current asset to be related.
    Tip Select the Apply to all visible rows checkbox to perform the same action for all assets currently visible in the table, or the Apply also to the <number> selected rows checkbox to perform the same action for specific selected assets.
  4. In the cell editor, click Check icon.
