Configure the Data Marketplace scope

As an administrator, you can customize the out-of-the-box scope to expose exactly what makes sense for your data consumers. Which data is relevant? Which data meets your quality or governance standards?
You can configure the scope based on asset type, status, and organization. Data Marketplace takes all scope definitions into account when searching for assets. If you choose to include only Reports as asset type, Approved as status, and Marketing as organization, you get only results that meet all of these conditions.

Prerequisites

Steps

Important
  1. On the main toolbar, click Products iconCogwheel icon Settings.
    The Settings page opens.
  2. In the Search section, click Data Marketplace Scope.
  3. To limit the search results to assets of specific asset types, select the required asset types in the Asset types tab page.

Tip Most enabled asset types are physical data assets, such as tables, composed data assets, such as data sets and products, or report assets.

  4. To limit the search results to assets with specific statuses, select the required statuses in the Statuses tab page.
If you don't define a scope, data consumers can find assets with any statuses via Data Marketplace, including Candidate, Pending, and so on.
  5. To limit the search results to assets in specific communities and domains, select the required communities and domains in the Organization tab page.
If you don't define a scope, Data Marketplace searches all communities and domains.
  6. To ensure you can reference asset type groups and their relations when defining relation paths, select the required asset type groups in the Asset Type Groups tab page.
By default, no asset type groups are selected.

Important Selecting asset type groups doesn't directly affect the search results in Data Marketplace. The selection affects only the options available when defining relation paths.

  7. Click Save.
    • The Data Marketplace search considers the defined asset types, statuses, and organization into account.
    • If you have restricted the data basket to the Data Marketplace scope, only the assets that match the configured data basket asset types and the defined scope (asset types, statuses, and organization) can be added to the data basket.
    • When you define relation paths, the defined asset types and asset type groups are taken into account.
