The recommenders aim to suggest relevant business assets and data sets. Recommenders have to train regularly to update the recommendations. By default, this is done every night. Recommendations can be calculated on the basis of several algorithms. These algorithms also calculate an error margin for each recommendation, and eventually only the algorithm with the lowest error margin provides the recommendations.

Note The recommenders use statistical information. Therefore, your recommendations will be empty or less useful if your company just started using Collibra Platform.
Data set recommendations for users
Description
The data set recommender suggests data sets based on those visited by similar users. If you use some of the same data sets as other users, you may also be interested in data sets they use but you don't.
The data set recommendations are shown on the Catalog landing page.
Strategy
The data set recommender compares the data sets used by users to identify relevant data sets, as follows:
- Check which data sets you are currently using.
- Look for other users that also use your data sets.
- Check which data sets those users use, but you don't.
- Recommend up to 9 of those data sets to you.
If the recommender doesn't have enough data, for example if you just started using Collibra, it only considers 3 parameters:
- Certified
- Quality
- Popularity (number of views of the data set asset page)
Business asset recommendations for data sets
Description
The asset recommender suggests business assets for data sets based on their related business assets.
If 2 data sets have relations to the same business assets, business assets linked to only one data set may also be relevant to the other.
Strategy
The asset recommender uses the Data Set related to Business Asset relation to identify relevant assets, as follows:
- Check which business assets are related to the current data set.
- Look for other data sets related to those business assets.
- Check whether those data sets are also related to other business assets.
- Recommend those business assets.
Note If the recommender doesn't have enough data, for example if you just started using Collibra, it does not give any recommendations.
