About the Catalog homepage

When you click Catalog in the application menu, the Data Catalog Overview page opens. This page is designed to help you quickly and easily find Data Catalog-related assets.

The page is organized into 5 groupings, or sections, of assets and a Data Catalog-specific search field.

Element Description
Search field

A Data Catalog-specific search field that you can use to find any asset in Data Catalog, for example assets of asset types Data Set, Schema, Table, Column, Tableau Workbook, and Tableau View.

This search field works in the same way as the global search field, but it applies the Catalog filter automatically.

  • To search, type text in the field and press Enter or click Search.

  • The search finds resources that contain a word that begins with your search text. For example, if you type ca, the search results could contain 'California' and 'Lewis Carroll', but not 'Meercat'.
You can also use wildcards and symbols to search, go to Search wildcards.

You need the Data Catalog global role or Data Catalog Author role to view the Data Catalog search field.
