Set up your Slack integration

Important  This feature is available only in the latest UI.

A Slack integration must be prepared by an admin and be configured and confirmed by each Slack user who wants to benefit from the integration.

Admins are users with the Sys Admin global role. Before any user can complete the integration, admins must connect the Collibra instance to the Slack workspace.

Prerequisites

  • A Slack workspace is available.
  • The appropriate Collibra user accounts are added to the Slack workspace.
  • You coordinated with your internal IT department to complete your internal approval process. This may involve application, security, and privacy reviews, depending on your organization's policies.

Steps

  1. In Collibra, open Settings.
  2. In the General section, click External Apps.
  3. For the Slack app, click Activate.
    The Slack Request Permissions page opens requesting permission to access a Slack workspace for the Collibra instance.
  4. Select the Slack workspace from the drop-down list in the upper-right corner of the page. If the workspace does not show:
    1. Select Add another workspace from the drop-down list.
      The Sign in to your workspace page opens.
    2. Enter your workspace’s Slack URL and click Continue.
      The Sign in to <workspace name> page opens.
    3. Enter your Slack admin credentials and sign in.
      The Check your email for a code page opens.
      An email with the code is sent to the email address associated with the Slack admin account.
    4. Enter the code from the email.
      The Slack Request Permissions page opens again.
    5. Ensure the correct Slack workspace is selected in the drop-down list in the upper-right corner of the page.
  5. Click Allow.
    The External Apps page opens.
    The Slack app shows an “Active” message. A confirmation message appears in Collibra”

Note Notifications are not sent to users when Slack is integrated with Collibra.

Prerequisites

  • Your Collibra instance is connected to the Slack workspace.
  • You have an account for a Slack workspace.
  • Your Collibra account is not already connected to a different Slack workspace.

Steps

  1. In Collibra, click your avatar → Profile.
  2. Click Notification Settings.
  3. In the Slack section, click Connect.
    A confirmation message appears. You also receive a Slack notification in the connected workspace indicating that Collibra is set up.

Note If the Slack Request Permissions page opens instead of the confirmation message, then follow Steps 4-5 of the admin setup steps to connect your workspace to your Collibra instance.
