Asset onboarding and change management

Data Privacy provides standardized procedures for creating and maintaining data privacy-related assets. It involves the following main processes:

  • Asset onboarding: The process of creating an asset and agreeing on its characteristics.
  • Asset change management: The process of making changes to an approved asset.

Distinction between the types of data privacy assets

In the context of asset onboarding and asset change management, it is essential to distinguish between the following general categories of data privacy-related assets.

Category Description

Business Process assets

  • These assets are stored in Process Register domains.
  • The ownership and characteristics of these assets can be modified throughout their lifespan.
  • For these assets, the Business Steward, Data Steward, and Privacy Steward are required to contribute in the characteristics management phase.

Other business assets (that is, assets other than Business Process assets). They include the following asset types:

  • Data Set
  • Data Sharing Agreement
  • Remediation Action
  • Remediation Plan
  • Risk
  • Technology
  • The ownership and characteristics of these assets can be modified throughout their lifespan.
  • For these assets, only the Business Steward is required to contribute in the characteristics management phase.
