Manage attribute types
You can create, edit, and delete attribute types.
Common prerequisites
You have a global role with the Product Rights > System administration global permission.
Create an attribute type
You can create a new attribute type if the out-of-the-box attribute types don't meet your needs.

On the main toolbar, click

Settings.
The Settings page opens. - Click the Operating model tab.
Operating Model settings are shown. - In the left pane, click Attribute types.
A table is shown. - Click Add.
The Create attribute type dialog box appears. - Enter the required information.
Field Description Name Unique name to identify the attribute type. Description (optional) Description for the attribute type. Kind Kind of information that the attributes of this type can contain.
- Click Create.
You can now assign the attribute type to an asset type.
Edit an attribute type
You can edit the name and description of any attribute type.
Tip To change the kind of an attribute type, you first need to delete the attribute type and then create a new attribute type. Note that the new attribute type will have a new resource ID.

A table is shown. - In the Name or Description column of the attribute type, double-click the current value, edit it, and then click
.
Delete an attribute type
Note System-managed attribute types can't be deleted.
You can delete a custom attribute type.

A table is shown. - In the Actions column of the attribute type you want to delete, click

The Delete this attribute type dialog box appears. - Click Delete.
