Configure the Total CO2 emissions Metric KPI widget

The Total CO2 emissions metric KPI widget shows a tile in the top row of the AI Command Center dashboard with the total estimated CO2 emissions produced by your AI assets. The value is calculated from the token consumption reported by your AI integrations.

Important The Total CO2 emissions Metric KPI widget is currently only available for the Databricks AI integration.

How emissions are calculated

CO2 emissions are estimated using the formula: 3 grams per 1,000 tokens consumed. The widget aggregates token consumption across all AI assets for which we can ingest token consumption, for the selected time period and converts the total to the most readable unit.

Estimated emissions Display unit
Less than 1,000 grams Grams (g)
1,000 g to less than 1,000,000 g Kilograms (kg), rounded to 2 decimal places
1,000,000 g or more Tonnes (t), rounded to 2 decimal places
Note Token consumption data is collected from your AI integrations via cloud provider monitoring. You must enable provider monitoring and grant access for Collibra to retrieve token usage data. If no data is available, the widget shows a dash "-", rather than zero.

Time range

The widget shows the total CO2 emissions over a rolling 18-month period.
