About the upgrade to PostgreSQL 14.9
Collibra Platform and Collibra Data Governance Center 5.8.2 currently use PostgreSQL 11, for which support will end on November 9, 2023. In order to prepare for this, we are upgrading our platform to PostgreSQL 14.9.
For cloud customers, the PostgreSQL 14.9 upgrade will be generally available on April 23, 2023 as part of the 2023.04 release.
For on-premises customers, PostgreSQL 14.9 is part of Collibra Data Governance Center 5.9.0, which will also be generally available on April 23, 2023.
By including the PostgreSQL 14.9 upgrade in the 2023.04 and 5.9.0 releases, we are ensuring our customers have time to prepare before PostgreSQL 11 becomes end-of-life (EOL) on November 9, 2023.
We are committed to ensuring that all of our software runs on third-party supported versions, so Collibra users can take advantage of the latest capabilities, performance improvements, and most importantly, security and vulnerability fixes.
For Collibra on-premises customers and Cloud customers using on-premises Jobserver on Linux hosts
Similar to the PostgreSQL 11 upgrade, PostgreSQL 14 no longer provides the database binaries to be embedded in third-party installers like our Collibra-provided installers for Linux.
Therefore, for the 2023.04 release and any subsequent release on Linux hosts, PostgreSQL needs to be installed and updated separately with the PostgreSQL-provided installer, before any Collibra-provided installer runs.
- Cloud customers only using Edge on-premises are not impacted.
- Windows on-premises installations are not impacted by the separate installation because PostgreSQL 14.9 is bundled with the Collibra-provided Windows installers.
Collibra has provided the necessary installers to upgrade on-premises components to be compatible with PostgreSQL 14.9 and we recommend that those are used as soon as possible.
