Integration FAQ

The following table contains the most frequently asked questions about the Collibra Data Quality & Observability Integration.

Question Answer
What roles are required in Collibra DQ and Collibra Platform?

In Collibra DQ:

  • ROLE_ADMIN is required to complete the configuration wizard steps, which includes adding Collibra Platform credentials and the mappings of connections, tenants, and dimensions.
  • ROLE_ADMIN or ROLE_DATASET_MANAGER is required to enable or disable individual datasets for integration.

In Collibra Platform:

  • The credentials shared in the configuration wizard in Collibra DQ must have Sysadmin and DataSteward permissions in Collibra Platform.
  • Any user can view DQ assets in Collibra Platform.
What assets are created in Collibra Platform based on Collibra DQ metadata?
  • Data Quality Job Assets
    • These are summaries of the Collibra DQ dataset with systemic relations to the included tables.
  • Data Quality Rule Assets
    • These are definitions of the data points of a Collibra DQ dataset that are being assessed for data quality and include systemic relations to the column(s) included in the rule.
  • Data Quality Metric Assets
    • These are the quantitative outputs of a rule that include the numeric score used to calculate its data quality. Additionally, the following sub-asset types of data quality metrics are created based on the rule type:
      • User Defined Rule Score
      • Adaptive Rule Score
      • Shapes Score
      • Duplicates Score
      • Outlier Score
      • Record Score
      • Schema Score
      • Source Score
      • Pattern Score
Will changes made to data quality assets in Collibra Platform be reflected in Collibra DQ? No. In its current implementation, metadata only flows from Collibra DQ to Collibra Platform. Changes you make to DQ rules, jobs, or metric assets in Collibra Platform will not be reflected in Collibra DQ.
How are data quality scores calculated in Collibra Platform? Can I configure this?

We use the average of all rule (metric) level scores associated with a given asset to calculate data quality scores in Collibra Platform.

While this is not currently configurable, if you have specific use case or methodology that you'd like to see implemented in the future, please submit a request via the Ideation platform for the Collibra DQ Product team to review.

Which DQ dimensions does Collibra DQ share with Collibra Platform? Is this configurable?

Collibra DQ shares all DQ dimensions with Collibra Platform, which includes the following:

  • User Defined Rules
  • Adaptive Rules
  • Shapes
  • Source
  • Schema
  • Outliers
  • Duplicates
  • Records
  • Patterns

This is not configurable.

I deleted a data quality rule in Collibra DQ, but I still see the DQ Rule asset in Collibra Platform. Does this affect the quality score of an asset?

No, it will not.

When you or someone in your organization deletes a DQ rule from Collibra DQ, the DQ Rule asset in Collibra Platform does not automatically delete. However, DQ rules deleted in Collibra DQ update to "Suppressed" in Collibra Platform to automatically reflect a status change. A Suppressed DQ Rule does not impact the overall quality score of a given asset.

To delete a DQ Rule asset in Collibra Platform, you need to perform a manual clean-up of the assets in Collibra Platform by following the steps outlined in the Delete an asset documentation.

I want to try the integration but I don't see the Integrations tab in the Admin Console in Collibra DQ. Do I need to upgrade my environment? As long as your Collibra DQ environment is at least version 2023.07, you have access to the integration. Because the integration user interface components are only available when React is enabled, ensure your settings are properly configured to leverage the integration functionality.
I integrated my Collibra DQ dataset but the Quality tab/dashboard in Collibra Platform is missing. How do I access these views? As with the legacy DQ Connector, to see the Quality tab/dashboard on asset pages in Collibra Platform, you need to configure and assign data quality rules from the Collibra settings page. For more information about how to create data quality rules, go to Data quality rules.
