Warning and danger thresholds
The warning and danger thresholds are optional settings that are shown as Warning Level and Danger Level when configuring the Counters widget. These thresholds enable you to visually communicate certain risk or tolerance levels for Issue assets.
The two threshold settings can be configured independently or in combination with each another.
- New Issues
- Open Issues
- Issues Resolved Past Day
- Issues Resolved Past Week
Example
Suppose that your organization has established that 20 open issues—meaning Issue assets with a status other than Resolved—will exceed its risk appetite. To give this visibility within the appropriate community of Collibra users, you can add the Counters widget to the dashboard and configure a counter to show the number of open issues, of which there are currently 13.
In accordance with your organization's risk appetite, and to give more meaning to the number of open issues, you can set the warning level to 10 and the danger level to 20.
The following image shows the resulting Counters widget and, specifically, the Open Issues counter:
Understanding the counter colors
The color of the arc on a counter depends on the value given to one or both of the threshold settings. The following table contains the meaning of each color for a counter.
Color | Meaning |
---|---|
Entirely gray |
Warning and danger thresholds are not set. |
Green |
The issue count is lower than both thresholds, or if only one threshold is set, it is lower than that. |
Orange |
The issue count is higher than the warning threshold, but it is lower than the danger threshold if set. |
Red |
The issue count is higher than the warning threshold if no danger threshold is set, or it is higher than the danger threshold if set. |
