Collibra system name
The Collibra system name setting controls how Collibra Data Lineage maps databases in your technical lineage to System assets in Data Catalog. When enabled, each technical lineage capability uses the system or server name you specify to identify the correct System asset for stitching.
By default, the setting is disabled. Enable it only if you have multiple databases with the same name across different systems. When enabled, every active technical lineage capability must have a correctly configured Collibra System Name field. A blank or mismatched value causes databases to appear under a DEFAULT node and breaks stitching.
How it works
You configure the Collibra system name setting in the Lineage on Edge section of the DGC service settings in Collibra Console. When set to True, Edge uses the value of the Collibra System Name field or the collibraSystemName property in the Source Configuration field in each technical lineage capability to:
- Group databases in the Browse pane of the technical lineage viewer under their correct system name.
- Stitch data objects in the technical lineage to the corresponding System assets in Data Catalog.
For Databricks Unity Catalog and Dataplex technical lineage capabilities, there is no Source Configuration field. Instead, you must explicitly select the System during synchronization on the capability page. This selected System value is used for system name resolution and stitching.
For details about how the setting affects the navigation tree in the technical lineage viewer, including what the DEFAULT node means and how to prevent it, go to Understanding the Collibra system name setting.
True, the Collibra System Name field in every active technical lineage capability must exactly match the full name of the corresponding System asset in Data Catalog, including capitalization.General workflow
To configure the Collibra system name in an Edge environment:
- Enable the setting in Collibra Console when you enable technical lineage via Edge.
- Add a system name to each capability. Depending on your data source, fill one of the following fields:
- The Collibra System Name field in each technical lineage capability.
- The
collibraSystemNameproperty in the Source Configuration field in each technical lineage capability. - For Databricks Unity Catalog and Dataplex, select the system in the System field on the synchronization page.
- Optional: to verify the configuration, complete the following steps:
- Set up the Technical Lineage Admin capability. For more information, go to How admin options work.
- Synchronize the Technical Lineage Admin capability with the
List sourcesoption to verify registered sources. - Synchronize the Technical Lineage Admin capability with the
Analyze filesoption to verify registered sources to verify system name resolution before a full sync.
