Google Dataplex Catalog ingestion via Edge

Important  This feature is available only in the latest UI.

Google Dataplex is a technical catalog on Google that provides information for data in the various Dataplex projects. If you integrate Google Dataplex, you integrate the metadata of all data of Dataplex projects into Collibra Platform. Collibra offers the multiple Dataplex integration types: Google Dataplex ingestion and Google Dataplex Catalog ingestion. For information, go to Integrating Google Dataplex.

The Google Dataplex Catalog ingestion is based on new Dataplex Catalog and results in assets that also represent Views, Entries, and Aspects. For information about Dataplex Catalog, go to the Google documentation.

Important
  • Currently, only assets that belong to the BigQuery EntryGroup in Dataplex are ingested.
  • When you integrate the metadata, you can also profile and classify the data without registering a BigQuery data source via the BigQuery JDBC driver. This feature is in preview. To learn how to integrate Google Dataplex Catalog with profiling, and classification, go to Steps overview: Google Dataplex Catalog ingestion.

The following image shows the asset types in Collibra after the integration of Google Dataplex Catalog.
