About Google Dataplex Universal Catalog integration via Edge
Important This feature is available only in the latest UI.
Google Dataplex Universal Catalog is a technical catalog on Google that provides information for data in the various Dataplex projects. If you integrate Dataplex Universal Catalog, you integrate the metadata of all data of Dataplex projects into Collibra Platform.
Collibra offers multiple Dataplex integration types:
- Google Dataplex Universal Catalog integration
- Google Dataplex ingestion
The Google Dataplex Universal Catalog integration is based on the Dataplex Universal Catalog and results in assets that also represent Views, Entries, and Aspects. For information about Dataplex Universal Catalog, go to the Google documentation.
- Currently, only assets that belong to the BigQuery Entry Group in Dataplex are ingested.
- When you integrate the metadata, you can also profile and classify the data, and request the sample data without registering a BigQuery data source via the BigQuery JDBC driver. This feature is in preview.
For more information about working with BigQuery, go to Ways to integrate Google BigQuery data sources.
To learn how to integrate Dataplex Universal Catalog with sampling, profiling, and classification, go to Steps: Integrate Google Dataplex Universal Catalog via Edge.
The following image shows the asset types in Collibra after the integration of Dataplex Universal Catalog.
