Troubleshooting Data Classification

If the automatic data classification process suggests the wrong or no data class for a column, investigate the following:

  • Does the data class definition match the column values?
Data can be formatted in various ways, and the out-of-the-box classification rules for the data class may not fit the column's format. For more information, go to About data classes.
  • Does the data type of the column in the data source match the data class' column type filter?
If the data class includes a column type filter, the data class is considered only for columns of the selected data types. For more information, go to About data classes.
  • Is there enough data available?
The automatic data classification process needs at least 6 values that can be checked, to classify a column. For more information, go to About automatically classifying assets.
  • Did you accept or reject the data class before?
If you accept or reject a data classification suggestion, that data class is no longer considered by the automatic classification tool. For more information, go to Accept or reject data classification suggestions.
