About the upgrade to PostgreSQL 11

PostgreSQL ended the support for PostgreSQL version 10 on November 10, 2022. This means that security and critical bug fixes will no longer be provided by PostgreSQL for this version.

Starting with PostgreSQL 11, the distribution of PostgreSQL has changed and EDB no longer provides the database binaries to be embedded in third-party installers (like our Collibra-provided installers) for Linux.
This means that in the future, PostgreSQL needs to be installed and updated separately with the PostgreSQL-provided installer before any Collibra-provided installer runs.

This impacts Collibra on-prem customers and Cloud customers using on-premises Jobserver on Linux hosts.

Note
  • Cloud customers only using Edge on-premises are not impacted. We continue to encourage customers to migrate to Collibra Cloud, and from on-premises Jobserver to Edge.
  • Windows on-premises installations are not impacted by the separate installation because PostgreSQL 11 is bundled with the Collibra-provided Windows installers.

Collibra has provided installers to upgrade on-prem components to be compatible with PostgreSQL 11 and we recommend that those are used as soon as possible.
Collibra software using PostgreSQL 10 will continue to work. There are no known security vulnerabilities on PostgreSQL 10 at the moment, but upgrading to a supported version of PostgreSQL is strongly encouraged.

On-premises 5.7 or older on Linux

We recommend to upgrade to Collibra Data Governance Center 5.8.0 as soon as possible.
For all steps, go to the upgrade documentation.

Cloud 2022.11 or older
using on-premises Jobserver on Linux hosts

We recommend to upgrade your Cloud environment and on-premises Jobserver to Collibra Intelligence Cloud 2023.01 or newer, once available.
More information will be available with the 2023.01 release.

  • If you would choose to keep Collibra 2022.11 or older, your on-premises Jobserver will remain operational but you will be using an unsupported version of PostgreSQL.
  • As of Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud 2023.02, PostgreSQL 11 will be a separate system installation prerequisite for on-premises Jobserver on Linux to ensure Cloud CDIC and on-premises Jobserver version compatibility.

Note If you want to upgrade to PostgreSQL 11 sooner, you can request the on-demand release, Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud 2022.12, for your Cloud environment, and request the matching on-premises Jobserver.
Keep in mind that all your Cloud environments (Development, Test, Production) will be upgraded at the same time.
To request the upgrade to 2022.12, create a support request.
