Working with Power BI service (NEW)

Power BI service is a cloud business intelligence software that helps you see and understand your data. You can ingest Power BI metadata in Data Catalog and create a technical lineage.

The Power BI service integration in Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud is not the same as the Power BI Report Server integration. If you want to ingest Power BI Report Server metadata in Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud, please read the Power BI Report Server section in the Documentation Center.

Important The new Power BI integration method is specifically for new integrations. For those who have been ingesting Power BI via the Power BI harvester, we will soon release a migration procedure.

Note  If you want to ingest Power BI metadata in Data Catalog, you have to purchase the Power BI connector and lineage feature.

Highlights of the new Power BI integration

The new Power BI integration includes the following enhancements.

Enhancement	Description
New Power BI APIs.	The new Power BI APIs replace the old APIs and XMLA endpoints, to stay on par with new Power BI developments and avoid complicated security configurations and performance issues.
Consolidated harvesters.	The Power BI harvester and the lineage harvester are merged. The new lineage harvester simplifies configuration efforts and represents a necessary step towards Power BI integration via Edge.
Filtering via the <source ID> configuration file.	You can use the <source ID> configuration file to specify the Power BI workspaces from which you want to ingest metadata.
Ingestion in multiple domains.	You can now ingest Power BI metadata to multiple domains.
New Power BI Data Flow asset type.	This new asset type accommodates the ingestion of Power BI dataflows.
Better ingestion results	Power BI Report asset descriptions are now ingested.
New attribute type State	On Power BI Workspace asset pages, you can include the attribute type State, to show the state of ingested Power BI workspaces.
