Synchronize metadata via Edge
After you registered your data source via Edge, you set up the metadata synchronization to determine which assets should be ingested and you synchronize the schemas in your data source.
Prerequisites
- You have a global role with the Catalog global permission, for example Catalog Author.
- You have a resource role with the Configure external system resource permission, for example Owner.
- You have a global role with the View Edge connections and capabilities global permission.
- You have registered your database via Edge.
Steps
- Open a Database asset page.

In the tab pane, click
Configuration. - In the Metadata extraction section, select a schema.Tip You can search for a schema in the drop-down list or click Browse and select one or more schemas at the same time.
- Enter the required information.
Field Description Schema The selected schema.
Tip If you want to apply the same rules for multiple schemas, you can create a master schema. A master schema is indicated by *.
Table rule
Table rules to include and exclude specific tables in the schema.
Click Add table rule to add a new table rule with Include and Exclude fields.
Tip You can use the table rules to include or exclude schemas from the synchronization job. Schemas without a table rule are not synchronized.
IncludeA comma separated list of table names in the selected schema to include in the ingestion. You can use
*as a wildcard.Default:
*ExcludeA comma separated list of table names in the selected schema to exclude from the ingestion. You can use *as a wildcard.Options Options to determine which actions Collibra performs on the schema. Skip database viewsOption to skip database views in the schema during the ingestion process.
Tip Use the table rules to include or exclude specific database views.
- Click Save.
Note You can only synchronize schemas that have at least one table rule.

You can now synchronize all schemas manually or automatically to ingest the metadata into Collibra.
